Effective Communication and Listening Skills

Effective communication and listening skills are necessary to get along with others. They include personal development, interpersonal communication, and relationships (Ansell, Morse, & Nollan, 2004). Strong communication skills allow people to effectively express themselves. Clear communication, active listening, and constructive conflict negotiation are important pieces of the social and emotional learning core competencies identified by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL, 2013).
