School and Classroom Engagement

School and classroom engagement consists of students’ participation in school-related activities, their relationships with teacher and peers, and their investment in learning. “Students who are disengaged from school are at risk for poor academic achievement, skipping classes, sexual activity, substance use, and ultimately dropping out of school” (Lippman & Rivers, 2008).
